He expressed hope that this agreement would constitute a first step toward a permanent ceasefire and the end of the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, emphasizing the need for continued international and regional efforts to achieve comprehensive and just peace in the region, ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative adopted by the Arab Summit in Beirut in 2002.
