Berri meets UNIFIL Commander, stresses Lebanon's commitment to UN Resolution 1701

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed at the second presidency headquarters in Ain el-Tineh, UNIFIL Force Commander General Diodato Abagnara, and the accompanying delegation.
The meeting reportedly discussed the general situation, particularly the field situation in UNIFIL's area of operation south of the Litani River, and the tasks carried out by UNIFIL, with the support and backing of the Lebanese Army, in implementing the provisions of UN Resolution 1701.
Speaker Berri hailed the Berri the “role played by the international peacekeeping force since its presence in southern Lebanon," expressing thanks and appreciation to UNIFIL for its continued provision of services at various levels in its areas of presence, strengthening relations between the UNIFIL and the people of the South.”
Speaker Berri reiterated Lebanon's commitment to UN Resolution 1701, calling on the international community to "assume its responsibilities to compel Israel to implement the ceasefire resolution, halt its daily attacks, and withdraw from the territories it continues to occupy in southern Lebanon."
Separately, Speaker Berri received MP Ghassan Skaff, with whom he discussed political developments, legislative affairs, and the parliamentary elections entitlement.
