WHO: The spread of epidemics in the Gaza Strip is out of control

The World Health Organization warned that the spread of epidemics in Gaza has become “out of control,” while only 13 out of 36 hospitals in the entire territory remain partially operational.
Regional Director Hanan Balkhy said that Gaza’s healthcare system “has been dismantled, with very little of the healthcare infrastructure left.”
She confirmed that “the spread of infectious diseases is out of control, including meningitis, Guillain-Barré syndrome (an immune disorder affecting the nerves), diarrhea, and respiratory illnesses,” noting that “the scale of work needed in Gaza is unimaginable, and we will have to address it step by step.”
