Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar chaired an urgent meeting at the ministry to discuss proposals related to the End-of-Service Compensation Fund.

The meeting was attended by NSSF Director General Mohammad Karaki, Chairman Ghazi Yehya, General Labor Confederation President Bechara Asmar, and Acting Director General of the Ministry Marilyn Atallah.

Following talks, Haidar said the meeting was called immediately upon his return from abroad to address “an issue that deeply concerns workers.” Responding to recent labor protests, he affirmed that “the Ministry of Labor stands firmly with the workers and their sacred rights,” adding that employers and labor sectors showed full understanding and support.

Haidar stressed the importance of ensuring workers’ rights through transparent dialogue, noting that several constructive ideas were discussed and will be refined with economic stakeholders and relevant ministers. He confirmed ongoing coordination to reach a balanced solution benefiting both workers and the economic sectors.

The Minister concluded by emphasizing that “end-of-service compensation is a sacred right and a cornerstone of social protection,” expressing hope that the Cabinet would soon convene to formalize the necessary measures.
