Prisoners in Lebanon issue warning: ‘We will burn the prisons’

Roumieh Prison is back in the spotlight on multiple fronts. Following a series of statements from inmates and videos filmed inside the facility, families have taken to the streets in several areas and at key locations to demand a general amnesty.
Progress is being made on the Syrian prisoners’ file after a meeting between the Lebanese and Syrian Ministers of Justice in Beirut. This development appears to have motivated Lebanese inmates to send official messages to the Ministers of Justice and Interior, as well as a third message to the leader of the Progressive Socialist Party.
