Education Minister Rima Karami closely followed the Israeli airstrikes that hit near Shmestar Public High School and Taraya High School in the Baalbek area, shattering windows and glass facades and causing panic among students as parents rushed to retrieve their children.

The minister contacted Baalbek-Hermel Education Director Hussein Abdel Sater and Secondary Education Director Khaled Fayad to check on the safety of teachers, students, and staff. She was informed that strikes also targeted the vicinity of Taria High School, slightly injuring several students, while nearby Bednayel was hit without direct school damage.

Condemning what she called a “barbaric assault” on educational institutions, Karami urged major powers “to act immediately to stop the ongoing aggression targeting schools and civilians, claiming martyrs and injuring many.”

She saluted the resilience of school administrations, teachers, students, and parents, emphasizing that “nothing will deter us from pursuing education and advancing toward our nation’s renewal.”
