Following the first session to review the 2026 state budget, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, Chair of the Parliamentary Finance and Budget Committee, stressed that “the oversight bodies responsible for combating corruption and auditing public accounts must strengthen their capacities.”
He added that “the state stands on its feet through its people, and safeguarding the rights of the public sector is fundamental.”
Kanaan further emphasized that “parliamentary auditing should serve as a foundation for reform, not be shelved, so that Lebanon and its financial crisis are not left to their fate.”
