The Internal Security Forces Public Relations Division issued the following statement:
As part of ongoing efforts to prevent the smuggling of unauthorized items into prisons, inspection teams at Douma Prison, part of the Regional Gendarmerie Unit, successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle three mobile phones and a SIM card into the facility.
The phones were found hidden among inmates’ belongings, concealed inside a cigarette carton that appeared to be factory-sealed, indicating careful planning by those behind the attempt.
An investigation is underway under the supervision of the competent judiciary to identify and arrest those responsible.
