Erdogan: Israel ‘seeking excuses’ to violate Gaza ceasefire

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hit out at Israel, accusing the country of trying to find excuses to violate the Gaza ceasefire deal.

“Everyone knows Israel’s terrible record when it comes to keeping its promises,” Erdogan said during an address at the TRT World Forum in Istanbul.

“That’s why preserving the ceasefire and dispatching humanitarian aid to our Gaza brothers and sisters will be very important. We can only start rebuilding Gaza once we put pressure on Israel.”

Erdogan noted that Gaza has been decimated, with schools, churches, mosques and hospitals bombed. “They say ‘Israel is innocent’; how so?” he said, adding that Israel is also using hunger as a weapon against Palestinians, including children.

“Against Israel’s propaganda machine built on lies, 270 journalists exposing Tel Aviv’s false propaganda, showing truth on the ground were killed,” he added.
