After Talks with Ortagus, Berri Signals No Shift in the Electoral Law

Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri affirmed that the Resistance has fully complied with the ceasefire agreement, and the Lebanese Army has deployed more than 9,000 soldiers and officers in the area south of the Litani.
Berri, speaking before a delegation from the Union of Islamic Radio and Television, said that the Lebanese Army is capable of deploying along the internationally recognized borders, but what prevents this is the continued Israeli occupation of parts of southern Lebanese territory, as confirmed in UNIFIL’s periodic reports. He then asked: “When, where, and in what way has Israel ever complied with even a single provision of the ceasefire agreement?”
Commenting on certain positions in Lebanon regarding Hezbollah, Berri said:“Is there any country in the world that denies the purest page of its own history?”
Berri also stated that during her last visit, Ortagus discussed two issues: first, the Israeli claim that weapons are still being transferred from Syria, and second, the negotiations; emphasizing that what Israel is alleging about weapons coming from Syria is pure fabrication, and the United States, which monitors the skies with its satellites, is well aware of that.
Regarding the negotiations, Berri explained that there is an established mechanism that is supposed to meet regularly, and it should continue to do so, and specialists, whether civilian or military, can be brought in when needed, just as was done during the demarcation of the Blue Line and the maritime border.
As for the electoral law, Berri stressed that this law is in force, and the elections must be held on that basis and on schedule, otherwise, there will be a political confrontation.
