Minister Rasamny: Reconstruction a priority despite Israeli attacks

11/8/2025 2:07:00 PM

Minister of Public Works Fayez Rasamny, said reconstruction is a government priority, but Israeli attacks slow progress. Lebanon’s losses may exceed 11 billion. A250 million World Bank loan is expected to help start rebuilding.

He stressed Lebanon hasn’t fired since the ceasefire and the government is working to control all weapons. The army is active south of Litani with positive results.

Rasamny urged criticism be directed at Israeli attacks, which target reconstruction efforts, and said political disputes don’t hinder the Cabinet’s work.

The minister announced strong interest from major companies to operate Qlayaat Airport and ongoing projects to develop Beirut Port. Beirut International Airport’s security is fully secured, with upgrades underway.

Regarding maritime borders, Lebanon submitted maps with Cyprus in 2011 and reached UN-backed agreements, securing the best possible outcome. Lebanon is ready to demarcate borders with Syria, awaiting Syria’s preparations, while working with the UN to improve border crossings.
