Donald Trump became the first sitting US president in nearly half a century to attend a regular-season National Football League game, as he watched the matchup between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions.
Some spectators in the stands booed when Trump appeared on the video screen late in the first half.
Earlier, speaking to reporters after stepping off Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews following the plane’s flyover of Northwest Field during the game, Trump said, “I’m a little late,” before getting into his armored car to head to the stadium.
“We’re going to watch a good game,” he added. “Things are going well. The country is doing well.”
