Minister of Foreign Affairs Youssef Rajji met with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georgi Georgiev at his office in Sofia, on the sidelines of President Joseph Aoun’s official visit to the Republic of Bulgaria.

During the meeting, Raji expressed his gratitude to the Bulgarian government for its “cooperation in the case of the ship owner linked to the Beirut Port explosion, who is currently detained by the Bulgarian authorities,” stressing the importance of this matter within the ongoing efforts to uncover the truth and achieve justice in the Beirut Port explosion, a national cause that concerns all Lebanese.

For his part, Georgiev reaffirmed his country’s “commitment to full cooperation within the framework of the law and to taking all necessary steps to assist in this case, which falls under the jurisdiction of the judiciary.”

The two ministers also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Lebanon and Bulgaria, agreeing to promote investment in the tourism sector, explore the possibility of resuming direct flights between Beirut and Sofia, and facilitate visa procedures for Lebanese nationals wishing to visit Bulgaria.
