Macron hosts Abbas in Paris

French President Emmanuel Macron hosted Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Paris today, as part of France’s broader effort to advance the fragile ceasefire and push forward a peace plan.
France pledged earlier this year to recognize a Palestinian state, in coordination with other European countries.
The French newspaper Le Monde also noted that the visit comes almost exactly 21 years after Yasser Arafat’s death in a Paris suburb.
