Will Lebanon Be Affected by the Earthquakes in Cyprus?

Geology expert Tony Nemer explained that the earthquakes recorded today in Cyprus, varying in magnitude and depth (see attached table), occurred entirely on land within Cypriot territory (see attached map), away from offshore fault lines. He noted that given their locations and relatively mild strength, these tremors are not capable of generating a tsunami and have no direct impact on the seismic structures of neighboring countries, including Lebanon.
Nemer added that as for residents in some Lebanese coastal areas who left their homes and moved to open spaces, authorities and relevant agencies should ensure that such locations are at a safe elevation above sea level, at least 10 to 15 meters, to provide better protection in the unlikely event of sea movement.
He emphasized that these remarks are meant purely as ongoing public awareness and precautionary guidance, not as a warning or prediction of any future event.
