Aoun Welcomes Reported Saudi Intention to Strengthen Commercial Ties with Lebanon

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun welcomed the stance reported by Reuters citing a senior Saudi official indicating that ‘the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plans to soon strengthen commercial ties with Lebanon, and that a delegation from the Kingdom will visit Lebanon shortly to hold discussions to remove obstacles hindering Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia.”
In this context, President Aoun stated: "The time has come, and we are awaiting the Kingdom, especially since I have repeatedly affirmed that Lebanon's protection comes from our Arab surroundings."
President Aoun's remarks came during his meeting with a delegation from the “Tomorrow’s Rescue Movement”, led by journalist Mohammed Barakat, who delivered a speech at the beginning of the meeting, stating that the movement "exclusively supports the state and its full presence in southern Lebanon, in Baalbek-Hermel, and in the southern suburbs."
President Aoun also received at Baabda Palace, Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani who briefed him on the current situation of the agricultural sector in Lebanon and the measures taken by the ministry to facilitate the marketing of agricultural products in Arab markets.
Later, President Aoun welcomed Minister of Displaced and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kamal Shehadi as well as the Zahle Municipality Head Salim Ghazaleh, and the President of the National Council for Lebanese Flag Philip Honein, who extended an invitation to the President of the Republic to sponsor a ceremony for raising the Lebanese flag in a square at the main entrance to the city of Zahle on the occasion of Flag Day.
President Aoun welcomed the Zahle municipality’s initiative and stressed the importance of spreading a culture of respect for the flag and civic education, especially among young people and students.
