Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced that it carried out an immediate intervention on the Elias El-Hrawi Boulevard in Hazmieh to address a gap that had formed in the metal expansion joint on the bridge, posing a direct safety risk to motorists.
According to the ministry, maintenance crews moved quickly and in coordination, completing resurfacing works and leveling the asphalt layer to technical standards, allowing traffic flow to return to normal and preventing further congestion along this key roadway. The ministry noted that this was a temporary solution pending the completion of full maintenance on the expansion joints within the scheduled timeframe.
The statement added that technical teams remain fully prepared and are continuing the ministry’s routine maintenance program on major bridges and critical routes to ensure road safety, especially ahead of the winter season.
The ministry stressed that it will continue monitoring infrastructure conditions closely and taking immediate action wherever necessary.
