Israel’s Maariv newspaper reported, according to an Israeli military source, that there is “concern in Israel over the Lebanese Army’s inability to fulfill its commitments and disarm Hezbollah.”
The paper added that Tel Aviv has decided it will not allow Hezbollah, or any group in the region, to strengthen its military capabilities in a way that could pose a threat to Israel, noting that the Israeli army links developments in Lebanon to Iran’s efforts to rebuild its power after the recent confrontation with Israel.
