US official: The Lebanese army may not be doing enough to disarm Hezbollah

A US official noted that “The Lebanese army carries out operations to disarm Hezbollah, but it does not have significant capabilities.”
He added to Al Hadath: “The Lebanese army may not be doing enough to disarm Hezbollah,” and said, “What is happening in Lebanon contributes to the re-empowerment of Hezbollah.”
He continued: “Hezbollah is receiving more weapons from Iran.”
The US official also pointed out that “Washington facilitates communications between Lebanon and Israel through the Quintet Committee,” adding, “We are following up with the Lebanese army on information exchange to disarm Hezbollah.”
