In a statement, the Beirut Port Authority announced that, as part of the preparations for the historic visit of Pope Leo XIV, the port oversaw the arrival of the Popemobile designated for His Holiness earlier this morning. Its arrival marks an important milestone in the ongoing preparations for the visit, during which the Pope will hold a moment of silent prayer at the site of the August 4 explosion. The vehicle entered the port courtyard under tight security measures carried out by the Army and the relevant security bodies, in coordination with the organizational committees responsible for all aspects of the visit.
The Authority added that this step falls within the final touches of the preparations, which include finalizing the procession route, securing the entry and exit points leading to the prayer site, and setting the designated stopping points and areas that will be used upon the Pope’s arrival near the explosion site.
