UNIFIL: Any Response Could Escalate the Situation, Attacks on Us Are a Serious Violation

UNIFIL announced that “the Israeli airstrikes in South Lebanon yesterday took place within our area of operations.”
It added: “We warn the Lebanese parties that any reaction to the Israeli airstrikes could exacerbate the situation,” calling on Israel and Lebanon “to adhere to the ceasefire agreement if they wish to preserve the progress achieved.”
UNIFIL stressed that “attacks on peacekeeping forces are unacceptable and constitute serious violations of Resolution 1701.”
