Salam Meets UN Security Council Delegation, Highlights Reform Plans

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received a delegation of ambassadors and representatives of UN Security Council member states, at a luncheon banquet held at the Grand Serail.

The meeting was attended by by Lebanon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Youssef Raggi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdel Sattar Issa, Lebanon’s Ambassador to the UN Ahmad Arafa, and Director of Political and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ibrahim Assaf.

During the meeting, the delegation members affirmed their countries’ commitment to supporting stability in Lebanon through the full implementation of international resolutions, praising the government’s work in the areas of reform and strengthening state authority, particularly with regard to restricting weapons to the state.

Premier Salam presented to the visiting UN Security Council  delegation the government’s approach based on the two pillars of reform and sovereignty, stressing the government’s commitment to moving forward with the implementation of reform plans and extending the state’s authority over all its territories with its own forces.

Salam also pointed out the need to pressure Israel to compel it to fulfill its obligations in the cessation of hostilities declaration, including halting its attacks, withdrawing from the Lebanese areas it still occupies, and releasing Lebanese prisoners.
