Mukhtar Caught in Newborn-Selling Scheme

The General Directorate of State Security announced that its regional office in the South has arrested a former mukhtar, identified as D.S., for his involvement in a network accused of selling and transferring newborns through forged birth documents and falsified civil registry records.
According to the investigation, the detainee had been receiving payments to fabricate official paperwork used to conceal the identities of newborns. Authorities also discovered that he was already wanted under an outstanding arrest warrant issued by an investigative judge in Mount Lebanon.
State Security said the necessary legal measures have been taken against him at the request of the competent judiciary.
