Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny continued his follow-up on development and service files, meeting with a delegation from the Union of Municipalities of Western Central Bekaa headed by Salah Taleb, joined by representatives from municipalities in the Zahle district, Future Movement coordinator Saeed Yassin, and Bekaa Regional Director Engineer Mohammad Al-Hajj Chahadah.

Discussions covered a series of vital demands related to road maintenance, strengthening infrastructure, and advancing urgent municipal projects. The minister listened to the full range of needs, affirming that “his responsibilities require addressing these files with full seriousness and within the ministry’s available capacities.”

Rasamny stressed that municipal support will continue “to the extent possible and with the highest standards of transparency,” noting that the Dahar al-Baydar road remains a top priority, as it is the main artery connecting the Bekaa to Beirut.

The Minister further revealed that “the project’s terms of reference have been completed and the tendering process will begin soon, covering landslide treatment, road paving, lighting rehabilitation, road markings, and the installation of reflective cat eyes to enhance traffic safety.”

The minister instructed the Bekaa Regional Director to follow up on municipalities’ development requests and prepare the necessary files for inclusion in the ministry’s work program, giving priority to public-safety projects.

For their part, the delegation from the Union of Municipalities and Zahle district expressed appreciation for “the minister’s responsiveness, institutional approach, and commitment to transparency and openness in managing development files.”

They voiced their “full support” for Rasamny’s efforts, praising “his practical policy in addressing municipal needs and his constant drive to strengthen development and municipal work.”

The delegation added that “his performance reflects seriousness and responsibility in handling issues that directly affect citizens’ lives,” calling for the continuation of this approach, which “reinforces the role of the state and serves the people of the region.”
