President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, affirmed that “the visit of the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV was not only for the Church of Lebanon or for the Lebanese, but for all the Christians of the East who are the sons of this land in which they are deeply entrenched.”

President Aoun received at Baabda palace a delegation from the Middle East Council of Churches, whereby he called on the delegation to work to ensure that the Christian presence in the East is active, influential, and steadfast in serving the cause of humanity, its present, and its future.

“Hence, your role as a council is essential for the Christian role in the East to become more active, and your contribution to supporting the faith and making it a purposeful focus is extremely important, which will further entrench Christians in their regions,” the President said.

The President also recalled the emphasis he made in his speeches, whether at the United Nations or in receiving His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at Baabda Palace, on the importance of preserving human freedom and dignity as a sacred right.

Meanwhile, Baabda Palace witnessed a series of meetings addressing parliamentary and educational matters.

On the parliamentary level, President Aoun received MP Mark Daou, who said after the meeting that he congratulated the President on the appointment of former Ambassador Simon Karam as head of the Lebanese delegation to the negotiations," affirming the determination to pursue the diplomatic path to protect Lebanon and end the war there."

President Aoun later received Beirut MP Hagop Terzian, who presented him with an engineering study for two new entrances and exits to Ashrafieh—aimed at alleviating traffic congestion on the internal streets of Rmeil and Ashrafieh. MP Terzian added that his talks with with the President also touched on the general situation in the country in light of recent developments.

On the other hand, President Aoun honored the General Director and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute (LARI), Dr. Michel Afram, in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Nizar Hani, and members of the honoree’s family.
