The rising diplomatic momentum in Lebanon reflects the international community’s recognition of the sensitivity of this phase and its connection to developments in the south and the situation in Syria. The appointment of Ambassador Simon Karam as head of the negotiating delegation is considered a pivotal step, paving the way for a new negotiation process that protects Lebanon from the repercussions of the conflict. The council welcomes the proposal of the Financial Gap Law, as it represents a clear acknowledgment of the responsibilities of the state, the Central Bank, and the commercial banks toward depositors. It also emphasizes the importance of the “State Assets Valorization Authority” law, which provides depositors with an opportunity to invest their bonds in productive projects. The council views these steps as indicators of fair solutions and a more stable national path.
