MP Ghassan Skaff Has Passed Away

MP Ghassan Skaff has passed away after battling cancer.
Skaff entered the 2022 parliamentary elections representing the Western Bekaa–Rachaya district.

Skaff was a professor and head of the Neurosurgery Department at the American University of Beirut Medical Center since January 2007, and director of the Spine Program at the same center since 2002.
He held several positions at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, including acting Associate Professor and Acting Head of the Neurosurgery Department between 2006 and January 2007, and Assistant Professor in the same department between 1998 and 2006.
He was the Director of Middle East Education at AO Spine, an international officer in the same organization, Chair of the Scientific Committee at the Lebanese Order of Physicians from 2010 to 2016, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Medical Committee at the University of Balamand, Chief Neurosurgery Resident at the University of Toronto in Canada from 1996 to 1997, Senior Resident at the same university from 1992 to 1994, and a Neurosurgery Resident at the University of California, Los Angeles, from 1990 to 1992.
He earned the Royal College of Surgeons fellowship (FRCS) in 1998, a neurosurgery fellowship from the University of Toronto in the same year, and the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 1997.
He held a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Saint Joseph University in Beirut.
He was married to Maysam Younes and had three children: Philip, Patrick, and Ralph.
