Israel Issues Warning to Lebanon on Army–Hezbollah Coordination

Israel conveyed a clear message to Lebanon through international channels that any cooperation or coordination between the Lebanese Army and Hezbollah is unacceptable, according to a report by Israel’s Channel 12. The message followed the postponement of an Israeli strike that had been planned against a Hezbollah target in southern Lebanon.

The report said Israel had recently identified a Hezbollah weapons depot in the southern Lebanese town of Yennouh and informed the Lebanese Army of its location, urging it to address what Israel described as a violation.

After Lebanese Army forces withdrew from the area, the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for the building in preparation for an airstrike. However, the strike was ultimately delayed at the last moment after the Lebanese Army requested to return to the site to handle the situation.

An Israeli security source cited in the report said Tel Aviv had detected signs of coordination between the Lebanese Army and Hezbollah. While Israel had given the Lebanese Army an opportunity to “address the violation,” it emphasized, through a message delivered via U.S. channels, that such coordination was unacceptable.

The report added that Israel is growing increasingly impatient over what it views as failures to curb Hezbollah’s activity, warning that if stricter measures are not taken, the next phase could involve broader Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, a Lebanese security source said the army had previously attempted to inspect the targeted building but was unable to do so due to objections from local residents.
