Two Children Killed in Massive Apartment Building Explosion

Two children aged three and five have reportedly been killed after a horror gas explosion at an apartment building in France.
At least four people have been injured after the blast on Monday which has also left others trapped beneath the rubble, according to local media.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Trévoux after the explosion occurred at around 5:30pm, La Voix de L’Ain reported.
The huge blast is said to have happened on the ground floor of a four-storey apartment building.
Bits of flying debris are said to have hit at least two nearby schools and shattered several windows.
The massive bang was reportedly heard up to five kilometres away.
Local authorities said: “50 firefighters and 36 vehicles, as well as medical personnel, have been mobilized to assist the victims.
“The two schools located nearby suffered material damage, broken windows, but school officials do not report any injuries.”
They added that some 30 people were rescued by emergency services.
Horrifying footage showed moments after the massive blast – with chunks of concrete showered across the road.
Police urged residents to avoid the area before setting up a security perimeter.
At least four people are currently being treated by emergency services – with a reported two others trapped underneath the rubble, according to linternaute.
The building’s facade is said to have partially collapsed as a result of the terrifying blast.
Nearby locals, including children, have been evacuated and sheltered at an emergency unit.
Shocking images showed bits of wreckage scattered across the floor, with stunned locals watching on at the jaw-dropping scenes.
Firefighters were seen lining up to assist victims of the blast, with police also present at the site.
Gas services also attended the aftermath of the scene – but authorities are yet to announce an exact cause.
A resident who lived near the site of the explosion told local media: “The firefighters arrived very quickly, as did the helicopter.
“The explosion was enormous. It was like the beginning of a war, like a bomb.”
Local authorities also issued an emergency plan following the blast which is believed to have been caused by a gas leak.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said on X: “I offer my sincere condolences to the families of the young victims.”
