Under the patronage of the Maronite Bishop of the Diocese of Baalbek and Deir El Ahmar, Hanna Rahme, and in cooperation with the President of the Union of Deir El Ahmar Municipalities, Engineer Henri Fakhry, and the Lebanese Forces coordinator in Northern Bekaa, Elias Bou Rafoul, the Christmas tree was lit and the Christmas Market was inaugurated in the presence of MP Antoine Habchi and several heads of municipalities from Baalbek-Hermel.
Bishop Rahme emphasized "openness and working as one hand, just as we worked together to decorate the Grotto and open the market with local equipment in cooperation with the municipality and the Union, so that goodness may prevail in the Christmas market across all seasons. We are working together to inaugurate a month for wine, not for drugs; we have many means through which we can rejoice in hope and the birth of Jesus Christ. The most beautiful thing about the holiday is what brings us together as one body in the unity of our people around Christ."
MP Habchi pointed out that "the opening embodies the spirit of love and the joy of life through the birth of Jesus Christ, and just as it exists in Deir El Ahmar, may peace prevail throughout the Baalbek-Hermel region and all of Lebanon." He stressed "this solidarity so that peace may prevail in Lebanon, thanks to the Prince of Peace today."
