Closer Look at Allegations of American Pressure on Fiscal Policy Reform

Senior U.S. sources told MTV that United States does not interfere in any internal matters related to laws or specific draft bills of a sovereign nature. They also requested that the name “Washington” not be linked to any pressure to advance the financial gap law, stressing that this is a purely Lebanese matter under the jurisdiction of the Council of Ministers and Parliament.

The sources added that Washington’s primary concern is stability in Lebanon, so that it can return to playing its normal role in the region.
