Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin are expected to be affected by a fast-moving low-pressure system accompanied by relatively cold air masses, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures, rainy weather, and snowfall at elevations of around 1,400 meters.
A second, colder low-pressure system is forecast to impact Lebanon starting Monday afternoon, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and snowfall down to 1,200 meters. The system is expected to persist through Wednesday.
Authorities warn of hazardous driving conditions on mountain roads above 1,600 meters on Friday due to snowfall, as well as rough sea conditions with waves reaching up to four meters and a high risk of flash floods, particularly in the afternoon.
Weather outlook:
Friday: Mostly cloudy with a sharp drop in temperatures below seasonal averages. Heavy rain at times, thunderstorms, strong winds reaching up to 75 km/h, hail, flash floods, and snowfall starting at 1,800 meters and dropping to 1,400 meters overnight.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with a slight rise in temperatures. Scattered rain mainly in southern areas, active winds, and snowfall above 1,500 meters.
Sunday: Partly cloudy with a further slight temperature increase. Occasional light rain and light snowfall above 1,700 meters, with clearer conditions later in the day.
Monday: Partly to mostly cloudy with falling temperatures. Rain intensifying from midday with thunderstorms, strong winds up to 80 km/h, hail, and snowfall above 1,600 meters, dropping to 1,200 meters early Tuesday.
Sea conditions are expected to be rough to stormy, with poor visibility overall.
