Culture Minister chairs first meeting of museums authority

Minister of Culture Ghassan Salameh chaired the first meeting of the General Authority for Museums in his office at the National Library in Sanayeh, in the presence of the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director General, Annemarie Afish, the Authority's members appointed by the Council of Ministers, as well as the Government Commissioner to the Authority and Director General of Antiquities, Engineer Sarkis Khoury, and the Minister’s advisor, architect Jad Tabet.

Minister Salameh opened the meeting with a welcoming address, thanking those present for accepting membership, and stressing that the Authority "has an important future in the museum sector."

The founding decree of the Authority was also reviewed in order to become familiar with its mandated duties.
