Watch: Hospital overrun with rats

A video has circulated on social media showing a hospital affiliated with a medical college in India overrun with rats.
The report explained that the authorities attributed the spread of these pests to food scraps left by patients’ relatives.
It was also noted that the video was filmed on January 12 inside the orthopedics department of the Government Medical College in Gonda, showing rats running across oxygen pipes near the hospital beds, as well as climbing a small table holding a bag of food.
Local authorities stated that the college administration issued an official warning to its director, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
