President Joseph Aoun commented on the recent Israeli attacks, saying: "Once again, Israel continues its policy of systematic aggression by carrying out air raids on inhabited Lebanese villages, in a serious escalation directly affecting civilians, aiming to terrorize them and threaten their daily security, in a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the most basic rules for protecting civilian populations."
He added: "This repeated aggressive behavior once again confirms Israel’s refusal to abide by its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, and its deliberate disregard for the efforts made by the Lebanese state to control the situation on the ground, maintain stability, and prevent the escalation of the conflict."
Aoun continued: "While the Lebanese state reaffirms its full sovereignty and the integrity of its territory, it holds Israel fully responsible for the consequences of these attacks, and calls on the international community, particularly the parties sponsoring the agreement, to assume their legal and political responsibilities, take clear and effective measures to stop these violations, and put an end to the policy of impunity, ensuring the protection of civilians and the preservation of security and stability in Lebanon and the region."
