Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Youssef Raggi welcomed Indian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Noor Rahman Sheikh, who conveyed an official invitation from his Indian counterpart for Raggi to take part in the second meeting of foreign ministers of India and Arab countries, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on January 31, 2026.

The meeting addressed Lebanese-Indian bilateral relations, existing areas of cooperation and ways to enhance them, in addition to the general situation in Lebanon. Minister Raggi expressed his appreciation for India’s role within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), stressing the importance of this contribution in supporting security and stability.

Raggi later met with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov, with talks focusing on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments. The minister underlined the strength of Lebanese-Russian relations and the need to further develop them, calling on Moscow to exert pressure on Israel to halt its attacks on Lebanon, withdraw from occupied points, secure the release of detainees, and support diplomatic solutions, including facilitating the Lebanese government’s decision to confine weapons to state authority.
