Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes Agreement between Syrian Government, SDF

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants welcomed in a statement, the agreement signed between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces in Damascus on January 18, 2026.
In this context, the ministry praised the decree issued by Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, granting Syrian Kurdish citizens full national rights. It considered that restricting weapons to legitimate Syrian security institutions would contribute to strengthening Syria’s sovereignty, preserving its territorial unity, and reinforcing the role of state institutions, which constitute the best guarantee for all components of the Syrian people.
The statement added that Lebanon, bound to Syria by ties of brotherhood and longstanding historical relations, reaffirms its commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its aspiration to establish the best possible relations with Damascus, in a manner that serves the interests of both brotherly countries.
