A Wild January Day of Dust and Scorching Heat
1/26/2026 11:02:00 AM
The Forecasting Department at the Meteorological Service of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation expects stable weather over Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin, with rising temperatures and lower humidity until Tuesday. On that day, Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean will be affected by a low-pressure system, temperatures will drop, and the weather will become unstable and rainy.
Expected Weather in Lebanon:
Monday: Partly cloudy to mostly clear skies with high clouds. Temperatures will rise above seasonal averages and humidity will decrease. Winds will strengthen in the south of the country in the evening, with a possibility of light dust layers in the atmosphere.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy in the morning, with a sharp drop in temperatures returning to seasonal averages. Humidity will increase and winds will strengthen at times, reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h, raising sea waves to around 2 meters. From the afternoon, skies will become cloudy with scattered rain, heavier at times in northern regions, accompanied by lightning and thunder. Snow will fall above 1,900 meters and, as temperatures drop, by evening it may reach around 1,500 meters and below in northern areas. Dense fog will form in the mountains, reducing visibility.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with lower temperatures inland, while the coast and mountains remain mostly unchanged. Scattered rain is expected, with the possibility of lightning and thunder. Winds will be active, raising sea waves. Snow may fall above 1,500 meters, with occasional clearings. Fog will persist in the mountains, reducing visibility.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with light, scattered rain and a slight rise in temperatures. Fog will remain in the mountains, causing near-zero visibility.
Surface winds: Northwest to northeast during the day, south to southwest at night, with speeds between 10 and 30 km/h
Visibility: Good along the coast, locally poor in the mountains in the morning due to fog
Relative humidity on the coast: 35–65%
Sea state: Low waves
Sea surface temperature: 19°C
Atmospheric pressure: 1020 hPa (equivalent to 765 mmHg)
Sunrise: 06:39
Sunset: 17:02
