Bassil Hit With Strong Response: “Show Some Shame”

A source closely following the oil and gas file commented on remarks by Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil about an alleged free concession of Block 8, saying that the terms under which Block 8 was awarded are better than those governing the award of Block 9 by Bassil himself, acting on behalf of his predecessors from the movement who served as ministers. The source added that those who relinquished Line 29, and by extension Lebanon’s offshore wealth, and whose party’s founder and leader at the time, General Michel Aoun, approved Line 23 during the maritime border demarcation with Israel, would do better to show some shame and refrain from making such accusations.
