The European Union approves new sanctions on Iran

EU foreign ministers approved new sanctions against Iran targeting individuals and entities over what Europe calls "the repression of protesters and their connection to the country’s support for Russia," and the ministers are expected to reach a political agreement to list the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on the EU’s terrorist organizations list, with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian stressing his country’s readiness to classify the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization and saying, "The unbearable repression that targeted the peaceful uprising of the Iranian people cannot go unanswered."
