The Ministry of Education said it has launched an investigation into a video circulating on social media that shows a student claiming he was subjected to mistreatment by his teacher.

In a statement issued by its media office, the ministry said the video features a student accompanied by his mother inside a school, alleging that he was exposed to a form of abuse by a teacher.

The ministry said the Educational Inspection moved immediately to look into the case, while the Directorate of Basic Education, acting on the instructions of Education Minister Rima Karami, sent two officials to the school. A report on the incident was subsequently submitted to the ministry, which found that the alleged incident took place around two months ago.

The ministry stressed that it will take disciplinary measures against the teacher if the violation is confirmed, reiterating its commitment to preventing any form of abuse against students.
