Berri holds a series of meetings

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain el-Tineh, where they discussed the general situation in Lebanon and the latest political and field developments in light of Israel’s continued daily attacks on the south.
Speaker Berri also received the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Suhail Abboud, who came on a New Year congratulatory visit.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss judicial and legislative matters.
Among Speaker Berri’s visitors for today had been the President of the Tripoli Bar Association, Marwan Daher, accompanied by a delegation of former deans and members of the Bar Council.
Discussions reportedly covered several issues, notably the strike by judicial assistants, the rights of judges and public sector employees, prison overcrowding and possible solutions to this humanitarian issue, in addition to the formation of a joint committee between the Beirut and Tripoli Bar Associations to cooperate on updating laws and legislative matters related to the regulation of the legal profession.
The discussions also addressed the issue of buildings at risk of collapse in the city of Tripoli and the urgent need to expedite securing the necessary funds for shelter, reinforcement, and restoration.
