President of the Republic Joseph Aoun affirmed that renewed international confidence in Lebanon and growing external support are a direct result of ongoing efforts to rebuild the state on solid foundations, notably through enforcing the rule of law and upholding the state’s exclusive authority over arms.

Aoun stressed that these principles are irreversible and are being pursued with "rationality, realism, and responsibility," pledging full adherence to the commitments outlined in his inaugural address.

Moreover, Aoun reiterated his determination, alongside Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and the government, to hold parliamentary elections on schedule, with voter registration set to begin on May 3. He said proposals to postpone the elections do not concern him, as such matters fall within the legislature’s remit. He also emphasized his neutrality toward all candidates, underscoring that his role is to guarantee the integrity, security, and transparency of the electoral process.

Furthermore, the president warned against dragging Lebanon into a new war, noting that the Lebanese people can no longer bear the cost of further conflicts and that any major danger would affect all Lebanese alike.

The Lebanese President also expressed hope that efforts to shield the country from renewed hostilities would be met with understanding and positive commitment.

Aoun’s remarks came during a meeting at Baabda Palace with a delegation from the Sovereignty Front for Lebanon, led by MP Ashraf Rifi, who voiced strong support for the president’s positions on sovereignty, constitutional order, and democratic regularity.

Separately, President Aoun met with Suhail Abboud, President of the Higher Judicial Council, with whom he reviewed court conditions and judicial needs.

Aoun also received a delegation from Dar al-Fatwa, which delivered an invitation from Grand Mufti Abdel Latif Derian to attend a Ramadan iftar.

In addition, the newly appointed chairman of Touch Karim Salam, briefed the president on the state of the mobile sector and plans to restore connectivity in southern villages affected by Israeli bombardment.
