After Toxic Pesticide Spraying in the South, President Aoun Makes Key Request

2/4/2026 10:25:00 AM

President Joseph Aoun strongly condemned the spraying of toxic pesticides by Israeli aircraft over lands and orchards in several southern border villages. He described the act as “a blatant violation of Lebanese sovereignty, an environmental and health crime against Lebanese citizens and their land, and a continuation of Israel’s repeated attacks on Lebanon and its people.”

President Aoun emphasized that “these dangerous practices, which target agricultural lands, citizens’ livelihoods, and threaten their health and the environment, require the international community and relevant UN organizations to assume their responsibilities to stop these attacks and protect Lebanese sovereignty.”

He requested that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “prepare a documented file in cooperation with the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, and Public Health, as a basis for taking all necessary legal and diplomatic measures to confront this aggression and submit complaints to the relevant international bodies.”
