Foreign Ministry takes action on damage from Israeli toxic substances

2/4/2026 5:40:00 PM

Upon the directives of the President of the Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has initiated the necessary procedures to document Israeli attacks involving the spraying of toxic substances and pesticides over agricultural lands and orchards in a number of Lebanese villages.

In this context, the Ministry will coordinate with the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, and Public Health, as well as with relevant scientific and research institutions, with the aim of compiling a comprehensive scientific and legal dossier documenting these serious violations.

The file will include identifying the nature of the substances used and verifying the extent to which they violate international law by comparing them with lists of internationally prohibited substances under relevant international conventions and treaties.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also work with relevant authorities to document the affected areas, and assess the health, environmental and agricultural impact resulting from the use of these substances, including their effect on people, soil, vegetation cover and water resources.

Once this file is completed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will submit an official complaint to the United Nations Security Council against Israel.
