Aoun briefed by ministers on ministerial affairs

Baabda Presidential Palace witnessed a series of meetings this morning that addressed ministerial, diplomatic and cultural affairs.

At the ministerial level, President of the Republic Joseph Aoun, received Minister of Finance Yassine Jaber, who briefed him on the outcomes of his talks in Davos and Dubai with a number of financial officials, including the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, which focused on the reforms being undertaken by the Lebanese government within the framework of the action plan it has developed to improve the country’s financial situation.

President Aoun also met with Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar with whom he discussed the social security file and the conditions of retirees.

The meeting also addressed the ministry’s work and the challenges it faces during the current phase.

President Aoun was briefed by Energy and Water Minister Joe Saddi on the outcome of his recent visit to Qatar. 

During the meeting, Minister Saddi outlined the outcomes of his discussions and reviewed the current situation and priorities of the Energy Ministry.

At the diplomatic level, President Aoun received the Ambassador of Spain to Lebanon Jesús Ignacio Santos, who paid him a farewell visit upon the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.

The outcomes of President Aoun’s visit to Madrid last Sunday and Monday were reviewed, as well as the talks he held with His Majesty King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

President Aoun commended the efforts made by the Spanish ambassador during his tenure in Beirut to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and wished him success in his new responsibilities.

Aoun also received former Public Health Minister Hamad Ali Hassan, with whom he discussed the general situation in the country and the current healthcare situation.

The President also met with a delegation from the Syndicate of Mechanical Inspection Employees in Lebanon, led by its president, Hassan Al-Hassan, who outlined the challenges facing the sector and emphasized the need to revitalize and reactivate it.
