Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri reaffirmed his commitment to holding parliamentary elections on May 10, stating that he conveyed this position to President Joseph Aoun and the government.
During a meeting in Ain el-Tineh with the Beirut Bar Association president and members of the new council, Berri said it would be unacceptable to obstruct a new presidential term by postponing or extending "the most important constitutional deadline."
On the financial gap law, he described it as a cornerstone of economic recovery, stressing that depositors must recover their funds and warning against selling Lebanon’s gold reserves.
Berri also called for a national fund to support Tripoli and the North following the building collapse crisis.
