In light of recent social media posts showing a bag bearing a political party logo at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport, and the speculation surrounding it, the Office of the Minister of Interior issued the following clarification:
Immediately after the image circulated, Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar contacted Airport Security Commander Brigadier General Fadi Kfoury to verify the circumstances. Follow-up investigations revealed that the photo dates back to August 2025, during the departure of a passenger as part of the Hajj campaigns.
The Minister’s Office emphasizes that all luggage, without exception, undergoes the standard security inspection and screening procedures at the airport, with no discrimination.
The Ministry of Interior also stressed that, together with Airport Security, it remains fully committed to implementing security measures rigorously and responsibly, ensuring the safety of the airport and all passengers, while avoiding inaccurate interpretations or attempts by some to harm the reputation of this public facility.
