Iran’s FM: Trump has ‘become a victim of fake news’

Iran’s FM Araghchi has pushed back on Trump’s claim that Tehran is developing a missile capable of reaching the US mainland, stating that Iran’s missiles are “defensive in nature”.
Araghchi said Iran is not developing missiles capable of reaching the US, adding that Iran’s armed forces have “deliberately limited” the range of indigenous missiles to 2,000km (1,240 miles).
Responding to Trump’s remarks at the State of the Union address, Araghchi said the US president has “become a victim of fake news”.
“This is solely for our own defence. Our missiles are defensive in nature; they are built purely for deterrence and to help us defend ourselves – exactly as they did last June,” he said, referring to the US-backed Israeli attack on Iran.
