Member of Parliament Ibrahim Kanaan stressed the need to safeguard Lebanon through unity and adherence to state legitimacy, warning that the region is undergoing a major upheaval.
Speaking from Baabda, Kanaan said that Lebanon must be rescued “through our unity, our legitimacy, our state, our army, and our vision for the future,” adding that the region is experiencing a “seismic shift” and that the country does not need further lessons to realize that national interest protects everyone.
Kanaan also called for putting political disputes and point-scoring aside, noting that Israeli attacks do not differentiate between one Lebanese citizen and another.
“The world is not a charitable association,” he said, stressing that rallying around the President of the Republic and the Lebanese Army is the bare minimum at this stage, as the situation cannot tolerate anything less. He added that this reflects the sentiment of all Lebanese.
Kanaan further emphasized that Lebanon remains committed to implementing international resolutions, but urged the international community to support the Lebanese Army, saying the military is “fighting with bare flesh.”
